This is an advanced course that follows on from the RYA Day Skipper Theory. This course will develop further knowledge and skills on navigation, pilotage, collision regulations and meteorology.
It is for sailors and motor boaters who are looking at embarking on difficult passages, for example, offshore and/or at night. This course is also a must for anyone wishing to take a RYA Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster Offshore pracitcal exam.
Suggested Previous Experience
Navigation to Day Skipper shorebased standard with experience of coastal yachting or motor cruising.
It would assist you if revision to Day Skipper shorebased standard was done prior to taking this course.
A non-residential course available over five days commencing Monday at 0930 hrs and ending approximately 1700 Friday.
A non-residential course available over two weekends.
Work through the syllabus anywhere in the world at your own pace with distance learning.
A 10 day Coastal Skipper shorebased and practical course. The first 5 days are spent learning the theory in the classroom (non-residential) followed by the remaining 5 days on board (residential) putting into practice what was learnt ashore whilst it is still fresh in your mind.
Starting October each year - 10 weeks before Christmas and 10 weeks after. The Coastal Skipper/ Yachtmaster evening class takes place on a Thursday from 7:30 - 9:30pm..
We have our own self contained studio available 'The Sail Loft' which is walking distance from the Marina or we can recommend a local B&B or hotel. Please ask when booking.
