RYA Basic Navigation and Safety

The new RYA basic navigation shorebased course will give you a basic introduction to navigational and electronic navigational techniques together with safety and seamanship. Suggested Previous Experience Some practical sailing or motor cruising experience is desirable and is designed for those new to boating. There is no end of course exam as assessment of the students learning takes place through out the course. |

Course Content Basic seamanship and introduction to navigation and meteorology. Syllabus The syllabus includes: Charts and publications, safety including engine checks, buoyage, tidal awareness, visual navigational and pilotage, rules of the road, electronic navigation, anchoring, weather forecasts and passage planning. Award RYA Basic Navigation certificate.
