RYA Competent Crew

2 day w/e: £235

3 day w/e: £350

5 days: £585

The RYA Competent Crew course is a 5 day course for beginners or those wishing to build on the skills that they learnt during the Start Yachting course. It is aimed at people who would like to become active crewmembers rather than just passengers. Most courses start in the evening to give the new crew a chance to settle in and find their way around the boat before setting sail the next day. The instructor will give a full safety briefing before the first passage but virtually all the course is hands on. You are the crew and without you the sails will not go up and the boat will not be steered.

One pleasure of this course is the way that total strangers start working together, making their yacht sail efficiently and looking smart. By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in daily routines on board. You should also have visited some interesting places and had an enjoyable holiday. This course will provide you with a good foundation for many years of happy and confident cruising.

Suggested Previous Experience
